The Photo Co-op is a community of photographers working in the same space but each on his or her own commercial, amateur, or fine art projects. We share equipment, advice, and experience. When it is time to work, everyone has his or her own private room. Color film and paper processing is possible using desktop-size equipment.
The STUDIO
is available on a daily basis -- click on the link to get more info.
As the Floor Plan (below) shows, there are 11 darkrooms in the middle of the floor, and 6 offices and a studio along the windows.
The darkrooms are all about 8x10 feet and currently cost $550/month including utilities (increases to $575 Jan. 1). The darkrooms are sharable by up to three people. Note that darkrooms come with no equipment but a professional sink and a counter space. No hourly rentals. These darkrooms fill a need in New York City for photographers/printers to have permanent spaces in which to use their own equipment and print without a meter ticking.
The Photo Coop is open 24-hours, heated in winter, and centrally air-conditioned in the summer. Darkrooms are fully ventilated and exhaust air is sent out of the floor. Darkroom waste water is filtered as per Kodak recommendations and water going in is filtered to remove rust and sediment. There is manned elevator service during business hours, 9-12 and 1-5/m-sat.
